Torban Williams

Rest in Peace

The committee are saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of former Charlton Park player Torban Williams.

Torban joined Charlton Park in the early 1990’s whilst still a student and was one of a number of talented players to join the club at that time which strengthened us right the way down from the first team to the fifth and sixth teams.

Torban was someone who could play anywhere across the back line but his best position was probably outside half. He had pace, vision and the ability to bring other players into the game. Whenever you saw his name on the team sheet, it lifted you. you just knew you had a chance of winning that day. He was also a talented all round sportsman who played cricket for Blackheath CC. I’ve no doubt he was probably a fine skier, golfer and footballer too!

We offer our sincere condolences to his children Sam and Emily, his mother Jan, brothers Simon and Reuan, and his closest friends. We encourage members and anyone who knew him to send their memories through our social media channels as we celebrate his life and legacy.

Details of the funeral arrangements will be posted when known.

Rest in Peace

Edit: Blackheath Cricket Club has posted a tribute and more information on its website.
