On the Road Again

Charlton Park make the short hop down the A2/M2 this Saturday for their penultimate away trip of the season, heading to Medway to face long‑time rivals Gillingham Anchorians.

It’s a significant afternoon for the club for another reason too — this will definitely be Shae Tucker’s final match in charge before he and Tayla head back to Australia to begin new jobs and be closer to family. A proper Park servant, a proper rugby man, and a proper loss. The boys will want to give him a performance worthy of the journey he’s shared with us.

Form Guide: Encouragement in Defeat

Charlton Park arrive in Gillingham after a frustrating but spirited showing against Dover. The 31–5 scoreline didn’t reflect the effort, ambition, or territory Park created — but the familiar story of missed chances proved costly once again.

Still, with just four points separating the bottom three sides, and four matches left, the season is far from over. There are points to be won, and survival remains absolutely within reach. Every carry, every tackle, every moment matters now.

Anchorians also come into this one off the back of a tough afternoon, losing 50–21 away at Crowborough. Both sides will see this as a chance to reset and push for a strong finish.

The Table So Far

Team P W D L Points
Charlton Park 18 3 1 14 17
Gillingham Anchorians 18 4 0 14 24

Anchorians deserve real credit — this is their first season at Level 7, and they’ve shown they belong. Anyone who’s played in Counties 1 Kent knows how unforgiving it is. You switch off for five minutes and you’re punished. We’ve learned that the hard way.

Know Your Opponents: Gillingham Anchorians RFC

A club with deep roots and a proud community identity:

Origins

Founded in 1928 as the Old Boys’ club for Gillingham Grammar School, Anchorians grew from a tight-knit school-leaver side into a cornerstone of Medway sport.

Darland Avenue — The Home Hub

Now part of the wider Anchorians Sports Club, the Darland Avenue site is a proper community hub — pitches, clubhouse, changing rooms, and a social space that’s been the beating heart of the club for decades.

Mini & Youth Growth

Anchorians boast one of Kent’s most active mini and youth sections, built on values, accessibility, and a family-first culture.

Senior Rugby

Their men’s side competes in Counties 1 Kent, continuing to grow their player base, coaching structures, and community programmes.

A good club, good people, and always a competitive fixture.

Tucker’s Take .. A man of few words

“We are looking strong.”

Shae also singled out the influence of our French contingent — Tevin, Louis, and Lenny — who have been outstanding in recent weeks. Their energy, physicality, and standards have lifted the group, and their impact on and off the field has been huge. Bravo, lads.

Final Word

This is a big game. A big moment. A big chance.

The lads need your voices, your noise, your colours, and your support on the road. Let’s make Darland Avenue feel like a little corner of Broadwalk for one afternoon.

Up the Park.
