For next season there will be two huge holes in the Charlton Park First team.

Bear has retired on medical advice. He gave the club his all over many seasons, culminating in him captaining the firsts with distinction and leading us to promotion. He was a forceful, uncompromising player who never backed down to anyone, and a perfect leader. We know he did not want to retire – ever. The idea of such an all-action hero not rampaging down the field off the back of a scrum (he was leading tryscorer for several years) seems strange. We would like to thank you Bear for all you gave to the club. We look forward to seeing you on the sideline and in the bar.

Alan has moved to Aylesford Bulls in a player/coach role – something he always wanted to do. He was a highly skilful player who frequently ripped teams apart on his own and a brilliant social member who helped organise social events and always drew people towards him. We wish him every success.
