Thank you for those schools that were able to attend yesterday’s year 8 festival. A big thank you as well to James Bloxham from the RFU who came down to offer his support with refereeing and coaching, and of course to Ian Thomson for organising. There were some fantastic rugby players from all schools involved and the standard of rugby just seems to get better each time we run these festivals.

We know that a number of schools wanted to attend but were unable to due to other fixtures or not being able to get out of school for the second Thursday in a row. It is difficult when you are the only member of staff in your department running all the Rugby teams. We will look at spacing the festivals out more in future as well as trying to change the days so that they do not always fall on a Thursday.

On a more positive note, we have now had 100 boys playing competitive rugby in the space of seven days, with a total of 268 key stage 3 pupils playing rugby this academic year.

Thommo would like to put  a year 9 festival on before Easter. We are looking at Wednesday 22nd March.
