I just wanted to drop a line to say thank you for organising such a wonderful day on Saturday 25th to celebrate the life of Tony.
We all agreed the day was an outstanding success from the buffet to the game, to the speeches and the turnout, I really do not think we could have asked for anything more, even the weather was good. It was an opportunity to catch up with people, some of which we had not seen for many years.
There are not many people who can say they had a celebration to equal this and, although we had to wait for it it was all the more meaningful for all of us – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when you did the opening speech. It reminded us of the funeral, although only 15 of us could attend it was the 100 plus who lined the lane and roads which made the day so emotional a testament indeed to how much Tony was liked and respected by all that knew him.
Please pass on our sincere thanks to Pauline and the catering and bar staff who were so helpful throughout the day and of course to Dave who stepped into Rogers shoes at very short notice.
Good wishes to the club its members and players and I am sure some of us will be visiting again in the not too distant future.
