Thanks to the work done by club groundsman Colin Wooster it is great to announce that Charlton Park RFC has been selected as one of the 48 clubs to have won a NatWest RugbyForce 2016 Keith Kent pitch consultation along with a grant of £2,000 to help us implement Keith’s recommendations.
Last year’s programme was a great success, with just over 600 clubs and 20,000 volunteers across England taking part in the DIY weekend in June. This year’s NatWest RugbyForce weekend will take place from Saturday 25 to Sunday 26 June 2016 and promises to be another great weekend.
Our pitch consultation will take place ahead of the weekend and will last for approximately one hour. Keith Kent, the RFU Head Groundsman, will visit the club and walk the pitch to discuss the issues and challenges that are being experienced. Keith will then identify solutions to help and these will be outlined in a short report. The report will be used by us to help plan and refine our programme for the NatWest RugbyForce weekend and identify items that the £2,000 grant will be spent on.
The awarding of this grant is thanks to Colin, who entered the club and whose rising profile with the RFU led him to be invited to a reception at Twickenham for a President’s Award nomination.
